Sports & Nature
The Northeastern coastal and mountain regions of
Brazil offer an array of sporting activities.
Whether one
of them is your reason for being here or you want to try
out something new, there is plenty of excitement waiting
for you!

Windsurfing |
The most highly recommended
windsurfing spot in the Northeast
of Brazil is Jericoacoara, and
it is known worldwide amongst wind
surfers, as a very reliable
wind spot. Surfers arrive and
are blown away by the predictable
consistency of the wind, day after
day. July through December is the
best half of the year with a peak
season in August through November.

There's plenty of beach in the area and lagoons for Kite Surfers too. In Jericoacoara area, the kite surfers have established, for the full enjoyment of their sport, a beach called Preá in a fishing village just 12 kilometers to the east. Most of the year steady winds blow "side on shore" with an average swell in between 0.5 to1.0 meter. |

Surfing |
Surfers can enjoy their sport throughout this region with the highlighted spots being Pipa, Natal, Paracuru and Jericoacoara. Paracuru and Jericoacoara have perfectly formed rights with north-northeastern swells, from January through May.

Hang gliding & Paragliding |
Quixadá, located aproximately 160Km south of Fortaleza, is considered one of the best spots in South America for hang gliding and paragliding. With very strong hot air currents, the pilots are able to fly very
long distances throughout this region, holding local records for hang gliding a distance of 432Km and for paragliding 302Km. The best season for these sports is from July through January. |
