The Portuguese and Dutch disputed the possession of
Fortaleza for good reason. Today it is attracting an
increasing number and diversity of people from all over
the world.
Fortaleza is a cosmopolitan city, where the sun shines
all year round, maintaining a pleasant temperature of 25-
32º C (77-89ºF), to warm its 25km of lovely, surrounding
beaches. Many are enchanted by the greenish-blue color
of the ocean, and the fleet of regional fishing boats called
Jangadas, that line the shore in Mucuripi. Others are
drawn by the variety of nightlife that Fortaleza offers.
Regional and international cuisine, cultural events,
theatre, and art and history useums are plentiful. The
largest permanent artisans fair in Brazil, is set up nightly
on the waterfront where you can enjoy strolling and
shopping in the warm evening breeze.
The friendliness and warmth of the people, has set
Fortaleza apart from other major Brazilian cities.
